Kick Off a Rousing Success!

2008 Chardonnay Yr End Event

Lone Tree Golf Course in Antioch was the site of the EWGA NEB kick off event on Saturday, March 14.

Approximately 60 members and guests attended and enjoyed a buffet breakfast and program chaired by President Pat Block.
Block introduced this year's Board, guest speaker Andy Nisbet of Las Positas Golf Course, and speakers from sponsors Back 9 Pilates, Kepler's Golf, Forma Gym, Performance Momentum, and Liberty Mutual.  Items ranging from a variety of cleaning supplies (vacuum cleaner, mops, and green cleaning solutions) to golf clubs and rounds of golf were won in drawings.

Fifty golfers went out in brisk, windy conditions to play an 18 hole scramble.  The winning team was composed of Barbara Competello, Marcela Tannenbergova, Dorene Davis, and Mary Jane Hodges with a net score of 67.  Second place was won by the team of Trish Powell, Sandra Heine, Margaret Hamersley, and Kara Noe

Sad News

We're so sorry to have to announce that one of our members, Barbara Cayere, passed away on Saturday, March 7, at the ICU in Walnut Creek Kaiser of breast cancer.  Barbara joined our chapter on March 8, 2007.  Barbara was born on October 17th, 1946 in Beaverton, Oregon. Following nursing school, she joined the Navy where she served for 22 years. Retiring from the Navy as a full Commander, Barbara remained dedicated to helping others by continuing with nursing administration at Kaiser Permanente for another 20 years, most recently serving as Director of Surgical Services in Hayward.  A memorial service was held on Saturday, March 14 at the First Presbyterian Church of San Leandro.
