Holiday Party
At Sunny Neon
Alice Miller will again host the NEB Christmas party at Sunny Neon at 598 Patterson Blvd in Pleasant Hill on Friday, December 11th at 6 PM. This year it'll be pot luck and BYOB.
Alice would like to request women bring a toy or Hoodie Sweatshirt to donate to the holiday charity group she works with - VEISTA. They help families in all of Contra Costa with two gift distributions, one in Concord and the other in Richmond.
Please RSVP to Alice. And if you can help set up or clean up, or need directions, please let her know.

Year End Event Report
Poppy Ridge, October 24
Thirty one NEB members got together on Saturday, October 24 for the year end event. Following breakfast, awards were presented:
Most New Members - Lisa Fox with 3
(Honorable mentions - Starla Chimienti, Patty Deutsche, Linda Soulages, and Linda McDaid)
Most Improved Golfer - Teri Crosby, who lowered her handicap by 6 strokes (Honorable mentions - Gina Bloomfield (3.1), Cathy Pementell (3.6), Patty Deutsche (3.8), Laura Scott (4.2), Margaret Hamersley (4.6))
Special awards were also given to Pat Block (for service, patience, and helpfulness), and to Patty Deutsche and Mary Ann Pate (for unflagging dedication as chapter volunteers)
A raffle was held, with prizes donated by EFX, Giggle Golf, Walt Abraham Golf Instruction, Fleming's Steakhouse, and a number of members.
Then, in unbelievably warm weather, we played golf. The scramble competition was for glory only, and a good thing (I witlessly put together a group that had 4 big hitters!). The "Winning" team was Laura Scott, Margaret Hamersley, Naomi Iaccarino, and Cathy Smith with a score of -4.

NCGA Renewals and New Member Information
Pay on the NEB website
If you'd like to become an NCGA (Northern California Golf Association) member or if you want to renew your NCGA membership or transfer it from another club, you can do so now.
NCGA membership gives you many benefits including
- GHIN handicapping,
- discount golf at Poppy Hills GC in Pebble Beach and Poppy Ridge GC in Livermore,
- free gate entrance to 17-Mile Drive for those with tee times there,
- free lessons and clinics at many local participating golf coursesaccess to private and resort courses at NCGA member outings.
- a discount on Dell PCs & Laptops
NCGA membership is optional and is not required by EWGA.
You can join, renew, or transfer from now until December 15th. (NCGA requires all renewals be completed by Dec. 31st so we need 2 weeks between 12/15 and 12/31 to get them all the information and payments for each member. Any NCGA member who has not renewed before the end of the year will be required to pay the additional $10 reinstatement fee charged by the NCGA. Membership covers January 1st through December 31, 2010. If you join/renew after January 1st your membership still expires Dec. 31, 2010 so don't delay! All new and renewing NCGA members who join/renew by Dec. 15th will be included in a random drawing for great prizes by the NCGA.
The cost shown below includes $5 that goes to our EWGANEB chapter to help defray the cost to have a member attend a class to be Handicap certified and maintain our NCGA Associate Club status.
New and Reinstating Members: $50
Renewing and Multi-Members: $40
(Multi-members are NCGA members with more than one club).

Golf Events of Interest
Rick Laforet
Rick will be closing down Ladies Day and the Wednesday night Ladies clinic for the year as of November 1. He will combine it with the beginners clinic on Saturdays 12 to 1 PM, starting 10/31. It is no longer a Women-Only clinic.
The last Ladies/Women's Only Wednesday Clinic at 5pm at Deer Ridge will cover getting onto the green and into the cup from a short distance in the rough or fairway (not the sand).
Cost is $20 clinic, for women only. Just go to the Pro Shop and tell them it's the $20 clinic, as a private lesson with Coach Rick.
