NCGA Associate Club Qualifier
NEBers compete!

Trish Powell and Margaret Hamersley represented our chapter in the NCGA Associate Club Championship qualifier events at Shoreline (Trish) and Las Positas (Margaret).

Margaret reports she didn't advance but had a great time and is really looking forward to competing again.

Trish did advance, shooting a 67 net and will be representing us in the Championship at Poppy Hills on Oct 5th and 6th.  Great job to both of them!  And go get em, Trish!

Lynn Sletto of Petaluma has joined the NEB chapter.

Welcome Lynn!
California Cup
October 17 & 18 at Bayonet Golf Course

  2008 Chardonnay Yr End Event
WE STILL NEED TEAM MEMBERS!!!  Come and join us for the California Cup.

This competition of all California chapters of the EWGA, will be held this year on October 17 & 18.  Both rounds of the tournament will be played on the Bayonet Course and will be played from the Red Tees.  You can get hole-by-hole information from the web site: www.bayonetblackhorse.com.

Each chapter puts together a team of up to 12 players.  We would like to know how many of you might be interested in being on the NEB team.  Please contact Barbara Competello as soon as possible.  We realize this is a tough year, and it is a costly event, but we desperately need a few more players!  Some of us will be looking for roommates, so you should be able to save on hotel costs.  The $330 cost for the competition covers 2 days of golf, the Friday evening reception, the Saturday barbecue, and the Sunday awards luncheon.

The competition consists of 2 days of golf. Day 1 is teams of 2 playing either alternate shot or best ball, and day 2 is individual match play.  All play is based on handicap, so depending on who you are playing against, you may get strokes on one or more holes.  GPS devices are allowed.  You do not have to sign up with a playing partner - Barbara should be able help you put a 2 person team together.

You can also choose to play in the "Fun Golf Tournament", which will be held on the Blackhorse Course.  Non-members and men are welcome to play this event.  The women will play from the Red Tees and the men from the White tees as this will equalize the competition in the "Fun Tournament".  The players playing Blackhorse will have tee times both days starting shortly after 8:00 am.  The CA Cup event will be 8:00 am shotgun start both days.  The cost of Fun Play is $220 and covers golf, the Friday reception, Saturday BBQ, and Sunday awards luncheon.
ARE YOU READY TO VOLUNTEER?

2008 Chardonnay Yr End EventAlthough 2009 is winding down, some of our committees are starting to gear up for 2010.  Our chapter is managed 100% by member volunteers who have an interest to provide opportunities for women to learn, play, and enjoy the game of golf.

Volunteering can be very rewarding.  It can give you a direct voice in how your chapter is managed or it can give you a chance to give back to your chapter.  New ideas are always welcome.  Become an active member in the success of your chapter.

The Events Committee will soon be selecting courses to play for 2010.  Contacts, pricing and arrangements will need to be made well before the season begins.  Members also assist with games, prizes, etc.  New members are needed.

The Social Committee will arrange and prepare for the Kick Off Breakfast/Brunch months before the March date.  This committee also is involved in the Year End and other social meetings throughout the year.

Other committees include Communications, Education, Handicap, Leadership,
Membership
, Nine-Hole Events, and Sponsorship.

All of these committees are looking for new members for the new year and can use your help.  If you would like to join a committee for the new year or would like to know more about any of the chapter committees, please contact Leadership Chair, Ginny Taylor by September 13.
