2008 Chapter
Championship
Saturday, June
21st Time is running out
to register for our annual Chapter Championship! This year the
qualifying event is taking place at Franklin Canyon Golf
Course in Hercules. This is an EWGA Members Only
event.
Requirements include: posting a minimum of three
18-hole scores or six-9 hole scores between Jan
1st through May 31, 2008 on your EWGA GLM system or NCGA
system; and having a handicap no higher than 40.4 as of June
1st.
USGA Rules apply. A free Rules seminar, presented again
this year by KC Cote, NCGA rules
official, will precede the event and will be open to all
members, playing or not.
Members will compete in one of 4 flights according to
their handicap or self-arranged scramble teams. Two
winners from each flight (Low Gross and Low Net) and one
scramble team will advance to the semi-finals at
Summitpointe Golf Course in Milpitas on July 26th
(mark your calendar!) where you will compete against winners from
other northern California and Nevada EWGA chapters.
Members with a handicap of 32.1 to
40.4 (Fourth Flight) are encouraged to register and compete
since this flight is not represented as of the date of this
eblast.
Cost is $105 and includes fees, motor cart, luncheon
and awards presentation. ($35 of this fee goes back to
AHQ to help pay for costs associated with arranging the semi-finals
and finals.) The deadline to register and turn in your Registration
form is Friday, June 6th. (There will be NO
extensions of this date or late adds.) The Registration/Entry
form needs to be received by Pat Block at
the address on the form no later than June
6th.

 Thirty-five
members and guests enjoyed a fabulous day of golf, games, food, and
prizes at Vintner's Golf Course in Yountville last
Saturday.
The winning scramble team, with a score of 55,
consisted of Donna Wagner, Jan Bridges and
Barbara Competello. (pictured above)
Ida Centoni won closest-to-the-hole on
#8 (97 yards) with a fantastic drive to within 1 foot 11
inches!
The lucky $135 winner of the 50/50 Mulligan pot went to
Diana Roberson.
Barbara Competello won longest drive and
Ilene Marshall won shortest drive!
Jane Taylorson's name was drawn from the
first 12 who registered for this event and won a Starbucks gift
card.
After a great lunch, a raffle of various donations took
place that included rounds of golf, golf lessons, pedicures at
Pinkies, wine cooler with wine, crystal candlestick holders, towels,
shoes, golf clubs, gift basket and
more. |

Month
Are you attending one of the Women
in Golf events in June? Ask every woman there if she would
like to join EWGA. Special New Member
Applications are available on our website - bring extra
applications to distribute.
New members recruited in June will pay a discount
membership fee of $100 ($25 off regular price). Enter
your name and EWGA number in the Member-Get-A-Member section
and you will be eligible for prizes in the annual
Member-Get-A-Member campaign.
Applications must be postmarked or faxed to AHQ by July
10th. |

Francisco last Sunday by a score of 19-5. One of the
highlights was Nancy Seibert who came back
from 5 down on the front nine to square her match and win the
team match with Naomi Iaccarino.

For Women's Golf Month, Tilden
Golf Course in the Berkeley hills is having a "Ladies
Night" playing opportunity.
It will be a non-competitive fun atmosphere to meet and
socialize with other women golfers of all skill levels.
Cost is $19 (paid at the course) and includes golf, range
balls, drink ticket and a $5 donation to the Susan G. Komen
fund.

Opportunity
For NCGA members with 20 to
40.4 handicaps
15th Annual NCGA Associate Club
Net Amateur Championship. Stroke play - club
registration. 3 players can go. 100% of handicaps
used.
July 12th - Club qualifying for NEB members will be held at
the Hiddenbrooke event.
Aug 28th - Local qualifying: Ancil Hoffman, Foxtail,
Franklin Canyon, Monarch Bay, Poppy Ridge, Poppy Hills, Rancho
Solano, Santa Clara, Shoreline, Sunnyvale, Wildhawk.
If any of our team members advance through local qualifying -
Sept 29-30 Championship, Poppy Ridge (entries close
7/23)

Interested in participating in the
2008 S.W.I.N.G. (Skillful Women Inspiring New
Golfers) Program?  Please email education@ewganeb.org and specify if you're
interested in being a mentor (experienced golfer willing to guide a
new golfer in golf etiquette and pace of play and pair up with that
new golfer at some fun golf events) or mentee (new golfer). An
Education Committee member will contact you.

EWGA California
Cup
October 4th &
5th
The EWGA California Cup will be held
October 4th & 5th at the Bayonet/Black Horse Golf
Club in Seaside, Ca. (Fort Ord area near Monterey) with an
8am shotgun start both days.
Team Play: $315 includes both rounds of golf, cart,
range balls, Friday evening reception buffet, Saturday buffet
luncheon and Sunday awards luncheon.
Practice rounds can be booked at $55 w/o cart
and $73 w/cart any day(s) Sept 29th through Oct 3rd.
Fun Play stroke event will be held Oct 4th at the
Old Del Monte Golf Club for members, non-members
and men. First tee time is 7:40am. Cost is $195 and
includes one round of golf, cart, Friday evening buffet, Saturday
buffet luncheon, and Sunday awards luncheon.
