 It's time
again for our popular Vintner Golf Event. This event benefits
our charities: Wardrobe for Opportuinty and LPGA-USGA Girls
Golf.
Vintner's Golf Course is located in the Napa
Valley in Yountville off Highway 29. (It's a 9-hole course but
we go around twice from different tees.) This is a fun 18-hole
scramble event that includes free range balls, games
and prizes, goody bags and concludes with a delicious
hot lunch after the event.
The cost of this event is $90 and the deadline to
register is Friday, May 23rd. We will also sell tickets for
mulligans, split-the-pot and raffle bags. There will also
be an auction for special items. Shotgun start at
9:30am. Please check in no later than 9:00am.

9-Hole Las Positas

Last Saturday
The
9-hole group played on Saturday, May 10th at Las
Positas in Livermore. We got a late start because of
a hugh traffic jam on 580 but eventually all 11 players showed
up. We finished in enough time to enjoy the great food at
Beeb's restaurant.
Laurie Kehl and Rachel
Norwitt each got a birdie (Laurie on the #3 hole and
Rachel on hole #6).

Free Women's Clinic at
Tilden

Tilden Golf Course
in Berkeley is providing a free women's golf clinic
this Saturday, May 17th starting at 9am. There will be
a continental breakfast, full swing and putting clinic by
Trish Hinze. New golfers and women of all
abilities are welcome to attend.

Poppy Ridge Golf
Course in Livermore is having their 3rd annual breakfast,
seminar, clinic, box lunch, 9-holes of "best ball"
golf followed by a networking reception.
Women can get more information and register for the seminar and
clinic ($49) or the full day 9-5pm ($89) by clicking

Interested in participating in the
2008 S.W.I.N.G. (Skillful Women Inspiring New
Golfers) Program?  Please email education@ewganeb.org and specify if you're
interested in being a mentor (experienced golfer willing to guide a
new golfer in golf etiquette and pace of play and pair up with that
new golfer at some fun golf events) or mentee (new golfer). An
Education Committee member will contact you.

No Twilight Golf at
Franklin Canyon this Friday

Franklin Canyon GC is
having a tournament in the afternoon this coming Friday so our
"Franklin Friday" twilight event will not take place. The next
"Franklin Friday" will be on May 23rd.

13th Annual LPGA Longs
Drugs Challenge - at Blackhawk
Volunteers
Needed
The link is now up for those who want
to work the LPGA at Blackhawk in Danville October
9-12th. Once again EWGA will have the 9th hole to marshal
Thursday through Sunday. We are accepting volunteers from all
EWGA chapters. Spouses, significant others and experienced
golfers are welcome to volunteer as well. (Marshals are
in charge of gallery control along the fairway, around the tee box
and green. It's very easy duty and you get to see the pros up
close and personal! You may also be on TV!)

President will be coordinating the work shifts so please email her
at president@ewganeb.org if you have any
questions. Also, be sure to email Alice once you've registered
online so she can include you in the EWGA group.
Last year's champion, Suzann Pettersen
defeated Lorena Ochoa on the 2nd hole of a sudden
death playoff.
