Our next 9-hole event is at the
Las Positas Executive Course near the Livermore
airport off Hwy 580 at 9:00am.
Cost is $20.50 to walk (no electric/gas carts allowed).
$3 extra if you need to rent a pull cart.
Deadline to register is Wednesday,
April 30th. Two spaces left at the time this eblast was
mailed. You can register after the deadline if space is still
available. There is a $10 late fee. Contact

Tilden
Clinic
Sunday, May 18th,
10-12noon
This is our "Breaking 100" clinic
designed for the golfer who is trying to improve their approach
shots (less than 100 yards).
Trish Hinze, Director of Golf Instruction at
Tilden Golf Course in the Berkeley hills, will be
conducting the clinic. She'll cover the short, approach shots
teaching us how to use various wedges and we'll also learn how to
get out of greenside bunkers.
Cost is $50 and the deadline to
register is Saturday, May 3rd. Space is limited.

Franklin Clinic
Last Saturday There
were 14 ladies at the Franklin Canyon clinic on a
beautiful warm day. We had new members join us and teamed them
up with a few experienced members. Again, Franklin's staff
treated the ladies well...and we all had a great time!

California Cup
Hotel Reservations Now OPEN
! The California Cup will be held October 4th &
5th at the Bayonet/Black Horse Golf Club in
Seaside, Ca. (Fort Ord area near Monterey) with an 8am shotgun start
both days.
Team Play: $315 includes both rounds of golf, cart, range
balls, Friday evening reception buffet, Saturday buffet luncheon and
Sunday awards luncheon.
Practice rounds can be booked at $55 w/o cart and $73
w/cart any day(s) Sept 29th through Oct 3rd.
Fun Play stroke event will be held Oct 4th at the Old
Del Monte Golf Club for members, non-members and men.
First tee time is 7:40am. Cost is $195 and includes one round
of golf, cart, Friday evening buffet, Saturday buffet luncheon, and
Sunday awards luncheon.

2008 S.W.I.N.G. (Skillful Women Inspiring New

interested in being a mentor (experienced golfer willing to guide a
new golfer in golf etiquette and pace of play and pair up with that
new golfer at some fun golf events) or mentee (new golfer). An

Franklin Friday
NO EVENT - May
2nd Due to an afternoon tournament at
Franklin Canyon GC - our Friday twilight game will
not take place this Friday, May 2nd.
Franklin Friday twilight will resume on May 9th, starting at
4:30pm. Contact Ginny Taylor at events@ewganeb.org by the Wednesday morning
prior to any Friday you want to

EWGA Championship
Requirements
It's almost time for the championship!
The EWGA Championship is held in three
stages:
- the Chapter Championship (local qualifying event at
Franklin Canyon GC in Hercules on June 21st)
- the Semi-Final Championship (at Summitpointe
GC in Milpitas on July 26th)
- the EWGA Finals at The Reserve Vineyards
& Golf Club at Aloha, Oregon September 26-27th
(36-holes).
These events require all players to have
a verifiable handicap index that is no higher than
40.4 at time of registration into the Chapter Championship (NLT
June 1st). (NCGA and EWGA GLMS handicaps are
recognized.)
All players must have played and posted at least three
18-hole or six 9-hole scores (or combination) between
January 1, 2008 and May 31, 2008. (That doesn't
leave much time left!)
Individual players (stroke) and scramble teams are
eligible. Individual players will compete against other
individual players based on their handicap in 5
flights:
Flight / Handicap:
Championship 0.0 - 8.0
1st flight 8.1 - 16.0
2nd flight 16.1 - 24.0
3rd flight 24.1 - 32.0
4th flight 32.1 - 40.4
There will be 2 winners in each flight that
will continue on to the Semi-finals.
One winning scramble team (based on handicaps) will
continue on to the Semi-finals.
If you want to join a scramble team, contact other players to
see who is interested and START PRACTICING! Also, read
the linked information below under Scramble Teams as teams must have
members with varying handicaps.
USGA Rules of Golf apply. A rules seminar will be
provided free to all members prior to the chapter
championship.
