Golfsmith

Golfsmith is sponsoring Women's
Night at Golfsmith on Thursday, April 17th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
There will be food, beverages, prizes, a FREE $25
Golfsmith gift card to every woman who attends, a putting
contest for a chance to win a new putter and more.
Three percent from the proceeds of the sale will be donated to
support the American Heart Association for heart disease in
women.

Franklin Clinic, lunch,
9-holes (reopened)
April 26th,

 This
clinic was originally scheduled for March 15th but had to be
postponed due to weather. It is now scheduled for
April 26th and there are 5 additional openings
at the time of this eblast mailing.
Cost is $25 and includes a lesson, lunch and 9-holes of golf at
Franklin Canyon GC on Highway 4 in Hercules. Deadline to register is April
19th.

Paradise Valley GC
April 19th,
Saturday  Our next EWGA-NEB event
is at Paradise Valley Golf Course in Fairfield on
Saturday, April 19th. First tee time is 11am.
Registration is full but you can call Ginny
Taylor (510-758-5095) to be put on a wait list in case
there are any cancellations.
Directions to Paradise Valley GC:
Take I-80 north to Fairfield and take the N. Texas Street
exit. Go 1/2 mile and turn left on Dickson Hill Road. Go
another 1/2 mile and turn left on Dover Avenue which
shortly changes into Paradise Valley Road. The golf
course is just ahead on the right. Approximately 1 hour from
the east bay. |
Marina 9-hole

Ten members participated in a 9-hole
event at the Marina Golf Course in San Leandro last
Saturday coordinated by Starla Chimienti.
The weather was unusually warm.

Roberson both scored birdies on the 202 yard par 4, 8th

Pace of
Play
An important function of the game of
golf is to keep up with the group in front of you.
If there is a hole open in front of you (no players from tee to
green) and there are players waiting behind you then your group
should invite the group behind to play through. This can
be done on a par 3 hole. Once everyone in your group has
hit their ball to the green and marked it, then waive up the
group behind by waiving a club while facing them. They'll
acknowledge and your group should then walk off the green to a safe
place and let the group behind play through. When they leave
the green then you can finish the hole. Alternatively,
wait at the next tee and let the group behind play through.
Suggestions for keeping up with the group in front:
- Each player should be at their ball and ready to hit it when
it is their turn;
- Limit practice strokes to no more than 2;
- Pick up your ball when you've reached double par if you
haven't reached the
green.

2008 S.W.I.N.G. (Skillful Women Inspiring New
Golfers) Program?  Please email education@ewganeb.org and specify if you're
interested in being a mentor (experienced golfer willing to guide a
new golfer in golf etiquette and pace of play and pair up with that
new golfer at some fun golf events) or mentee (new golfer). An
Education Committee member will contact you.

Blue Rock Springs (East) -
Next 18-hole event
May 3rd,
Saturday
It's time to register for our next
18-hole event. Blue Rock Springs Golf Course
is located in Vallejo.
Cost is $55 ($65 after 4/23 if space is available) and includes
green fees, cart, prizes, water, snack and lots of
fun.
Deadline to register is April 23rd.

Stevinson Ranch - Stay and
Play package
May 24th,
Saturday
We have a Stay and Play package at
Stevinson Ranch for Saturday, May 24th returning
Sunday. Space is limited and the deadline to register
is April 24th. Stevinson Ranch is
approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes from Walnut Creek heading south
on Hwy 5.
The package includes 1 round (18-holes) of golf with cart,
unlimited use of range, social hour, dinner, overnight in a nice
cottage, and breakfast for $185 per person double
occupancy.
Carpooling will be available.
Contact Ginny Taylor ASAP
if you plan on registering before the deadline so she knows how many
cottages to reserve.

Free Clinics for
NCGA Members
Poppy Ridge
Golf Course in Livermore is providing NCGA members with
free clinics every Thursday (5:30-6:30pm) and Saturday
(2:30-3:30pm) during the month of April. To sign up call
925-44-POPPY. Space is limited in these
popular clinics.

on May 10th has been changed from Grayson Woods in
Pleasant Hill to Las Positas Executive Course in
Livermore off Hwy 580. |
