sponsorship@ewganeb.org or call her on her cell
phone at 925-639-2464. If you don't think you can serve on a
committee for the entire year, but have some time right now, we
could surely use your help to get the year started. If you
have any leads for sponsors, please send Joanne their contact
information. Please include the following information for the
potential sponsor:
Name
Business Name
What the business is
Website, if they have one

We are also looking for sponsors who would like to participate
in our 2008 Kick-Off Event on March 8th by donating items for "goody
bags" or setting up tables to display their products.

Donations Needed for our
March Kick-Off
Do you know a business
(maybe your own) that would be willing to donate an item or two
for our March Kick-Off?
In the past we've had golf related items: golf balls,
golf lessons, equipment, green fees w/cart for two-somes or
four-somes, as well as non-golf related donations such as dinner for
two at nice restaurants, gift baskets, etc.

Lifting the
Flagstick Rule Change for
2008
A typical reaction of a player who sees a
ball about to strike a flagstick lying on the ground is to lift the
flagstick. In the past this action resulted in a loss of hole
penalty in match play or a two-stroke penalty in stroke play, but as
of January 1st, there is NO penalty.
Rule 24-1

Scramble
Format What's that
mean?
Throughout the year we play various golf
formats. For example, at the Kick-Off golf event we will be
playing a scramble format.
That means: Each foursome is a team and each team member
hits a tee shot and the team selects the best shot and all team
members play from that spot. All four team members hit the
next shot, the best shot is selected and all team
members play from that spot, and so on until the ball is holed
out.
The team selects the best shot, which may not always be the
longest ball, especially if it ends up in the sand, behind a
tree, or in the water! |
Volunteers Needed
NOW! Your Chapter Needs
You
 The Membership Committee Chair,
Margaret Hamersley, is looking for volunteers to
help stuff envelopes for a mass mailing of flyers for the March
Kick-Off. If you are available on Tuesday, February
5th at 5pm (or shortly thereafter) in the Walnut Creek area
contact Margaret at membership@ewganeb.org Your assistance
will be greatly appreciated.
Our chapter is also in need of one or more
members willing to manage the "9-Hole
Committee". This person would arrange with local golf
course(s) to reserve tee times for 4-8 players on at least one
Saturday or Sunday per month. This is a very important
position because it especially benefits our new and beginner
golfers, although all members are welcome to play. We would
like this person to volunteer well before the March Kick-Off.
If you are interested, contact Ann Marie McGee at
leadership@ewganeb.org
Last but far from least, our chapter is looking for
someone to chair our Chapter Championship Committee.
Our Chapter Championship tournament will be held June 21st at
Franklyn Canyon GC in Hercules. EWGA rules prohibit
the Chapter Championship Chair from playing in the Chapter
Championship tournament. For someone who was not planning to
play in the championship tournament but would like to volunteer for
this very important position, please contact Ann Marie
McGee at leadership@ewganeb.org as soon as
possible.
Our chapter cannot exist without volunteers. All board
members, committee chairs and their members are volunteers and all
gladly donate their time to make this chapter successful.
Please join us. You will find a great deal of support and friendship
among the members. |
