Paths Submitted by the Education
Committee
Q
- In determining the nearest point of relief from a cart path,
you use a 3-iron to determine the club-length distance needed for
the drop. But you use a wedge to hit the shot. Is this
permissible?
A - Yes. But the Rules of Golf recommends that you
determine the nearest point of relief with the club you are going to
use for the next shot. Decision

Donations Needed for our
March Kick-Off
Do you know a business
(maybe your own) that would be willing to donate an item or two
for our March Kick-Off?
In the past we've had golf related items: golf balls,
golf lessons, equipment, green fees w/cart for two-somes or
four-somes, as well as non-golf related donations such as dinner for
two at nice restaurants, gift baskets, etc.

Sponsorship
Committee
Submitted by Joanne Segovia If
anyone would like to work on the Sponsorship Committee, please
contact Joanne Segovia, Sponsorship Chair at
sponsorship@ewganeb.org or call her on her cell
phone at 925-639-2464. If you don't think you can serve on a
committee for the entire year, but have some time right now, we
could surely use your help to get the year started. If you
have any leads for sponsors, please send Joanne their contact
information. Please include the following information for the
potential sponsor:
Name
Business Name
What the business is
Website, if they have one
Email address

We are also looking for sponsors who would like to participate
in our 2008 Kick-Off Event on March 8th by donating items for "goody
bags" or setting up tables to display their products.

Volunteers
Needed We need you!
Volunteers are
needed to help on the day of the Kick-Off. We will need
help with setting up tables, decorating,
greeting, checking in attendees, overseeing information tables
and other important responsibilities. It will be rewarding and
a lot of fun.
Volunteers are needed throughout the year. You can
volunteer for single events (like the Kick-Off) or join a committee
for a year. All the committees can use your help. Some
of those committees are:
Golf Events
Membership
Sponsorship
Social Events
Education
Communications
To volunteer to help at the Kick-Off or to obtain
information about or join a committee contact Ann Marie
McGee at leadership@ewganeb.org |
More Volunteers Needed
NOW Your Chapter Needs
You
The Membership Committee Chair,
Margaret Hamersley, is looking for volunteers to
help stuff envelopes for a mass mailing of flyers for the March
Kick-Off. If you are available on Tuesday, February
5th at 5pm (or shortly thereafter) in the Walnut Creek area
contact Margaret at membership@ewganeb.org Your assistance
will be greatly appreciated.
Our chapter is also in need of one or more
members willing to manage the "9-Hole
Committee". This person would arrange with local golf
course(s) to reserve tee times for 4-8 players on at least one
Saturday or Sunday per month. We would like this person to
volunteer well before the March Kick-Off. If you are
interested, contact Ann Marie McGee at leadership@ewganeb.org
Last but far from least, our chapter is looking for
someone to chair our Chapter Championship Committee.
Our Chapter Championship tournament will be held June 21st at
Franklyn Canyon GC in Hercules. EWGA rules prohibit
the Chapter Championship Chair from playing in the Chapter
Championship tournament. For someone who was not planning to
play in the championship tournament but would like to volunteer for
this very important position, please contact Ann Marie
McGee at leadership@ewganeb.org as soon as
possible.
Our chapter cannot exist without volunteers. All board
members, committee chairs and their members are volunteers and all
gladly donate their time to make this chapter successful.
Join us. You will find a great deal of support and friendship among
the members. |

It's Here! Our
2008 Events Calendar is
on-line!
The Events Committee
has arranged a year full of fun! All the details may not be
complete yet but you can see the dates and places we've selected for
our 2008 golf events and more!
Courses were selected by reviewing the survey that we asked our
members to complete last fall. We picked those courses that
were the most popular and included them again this year!
You can sign up for the March Kick-Off and any other event that
shows a cost and a deadline.
Special thanks to Ginny Taylor, the Events
Committee Chair, for making the arrangements to play at the various
golf courses.
See the bottom of the "Mark Your Calendar" section below for
the link to the events calendar. It will remain at that
location for future reference. |
