Our Holiday
Party! was Friday, December
7th
Alice Miller, our chapter
president, hosted a holiday party
at Sunny Neon in
Pleasant Hill.
The party was catered by Bubi's Catering (from
Berkeley) with a wonderful array of tasty appetizers, roast
turkey, focaccia bread, salad, pasta, roasted vegetables, fresh
sliced fruit, assorted cheeses, smoked salmon, etc., etc.,
etc.!!!!
It was great to get together with members just to talk,
discuss Christmas plans, recent vacations, family, off-season plans,
and of course - golf.
Then the pool table cover came off -- and
lively, entertaining rounds of pool (described in golf terms)
began. It was a very enjoyable evening.
Members brought many un-wrapped gifts for
children for donation to the Contra Costa County Holiday Helper
Program . This program assists more than 300 families across
Contra Costa County.
Thanks, Alice. I know everyone had a great
time. |

What is Advice?
USGA
Definition change for 2008
"Advice" is any counsel or suggestion that could influence a
player in determining his play, the choice of a club or the method
of making a stroke.
Information on the Rules, distance or matters of public
information, such as the position of hazards or the flagstick on the
putting green, is not advice.
The word "distance" in the above definition is new to
2008. It was amended to allow the exchange of information
as to distance.
__________________________
USGA Rule 8.1
Advice
During a stipulated round, a player must not:
(a) give advice to anyone in the competition playing on the
course other than his partner, or
(b) ask for advice from anyone other than his partner or either
of their
caddies. | |

NCGA Membership Dues
Correction for renewals &
multi-members
The NCGA membership dues
for members renewing or multi-members (NCGA with more than one
club) was previously incorrectly stated as $40. The correct
cost is $35.
Those members who have overpaid will be receiving a
$5 refund. |
NCGA Membership
with On-Line
Registration for calendar
year 2008
Are you
interested in becoming an NCGA member for 2008 or do you
need to renew your NCGA membership?
New NCGA member dues for 2008 are $45.00 and renewals or
multi-members (NCGA with more than one club) are $35.00.
The renewal period runs through December
15th, but don't wait! Late payments are an extra
$5.00 and will reduce the amount of time the player is an NCGA
member as they work on a calendar year. (This is separate from
EWGA dues and not required unless you want NCGA benefits.)
The Northern California Golf Association benefits
include:
- the ability to compete in NCGA tournaments
- NCGA magazine
- discounts at Poppy Hills (Pebble Beach)
- discounts at Poppy Ridge (Livermore)
- GHIN handicapping
- free lessons and clinics
- Free access to 17-mile drive in Pebble Beach -
anytime!
You will need to Log-In to register.
Also, Cindy has requested that members register by December
15th although the website states a deadline of December
31st. That is the date Cindy needs to have the payments
and information in to the NCGA. Please do not wait to
the end of the month to
register. |
Did you order an
EWGA shirt at the 2007 Kick-Off
?
We apologize for not keeping you
informed of the many delays and ultimate inability to provide you
with your shirt. If you paid for a shirt then you will be
given a refund. Please check your credit card bills or
cancelled checks. We believe most checks were not cashed and
cards not charged but some may have inadvertently gone through.
If your check was cashed or your credit card charged, then
contact our chapter treasurer, Laurie Kehl for a
refund at treasurer@ewganeb.org
