The golf year is coming to a close
with only 3 golf events left this year. Our next event is at
Lone Tree Golf Course
in Antioch. This par-72 golf course opened in 1934
and was designed by John F. Harbottle, III, ASCGA. It is 5,596
yards from the red tees with a rating of 71.9 and slope of
121. There are no water hazards! There is a driving
range, putting green and sand area.
The green fee for this event is $65 and includes a cart,
bottled water, trail mix bar, fun, games and prizes.
Deadline to register is Wednesday,
October 10th.

Vintner's GC Results
Saturday, September
22nd  Sixteen members and
guests arrived to a cloudy, cool and overcast
morning. Chasom ("Chase-um") the cute and loveable
new Australian Shepherd puppy at the course was a big hit and
greeted the members as they arrived. Chasom was in training to
keep the geese off of the course.
Four scramble teams competed against each
other. $5 mulligans and an eight foot string added to the
competition.
Members were paired according to their individual handicaps and
given a team handicap. The winning team, with an adjusted
score of 62 was Alice Miller, Patty Deutsche, Laura
Scott, and Cathy Pementell. Each
member won a $20 gift certificate at the pro shop. The 2nd
place team also won $20 gift certificates from American
Golf. The $80 in mulligans were split between 2 members
through a drawing. Numerous bottles of Napa wine were also
given away through a drawing.
Everyone enjoyed a sit-down served lunch including salad,
grilled chicken with mushroom sauce, mixed
vegetables, potatoes, and for desert - vanilla bean ice cream
with chocolate brownie! Wine, ice tea and ice water were
also included.

between the lot and the course. A parking fee may be
charged.

Committees
Are You Ready to
Volunteer?
 Although 2007 is
winding down, some of our committees are starting to gear up
for 2008. Our chapter is managed 100% by member
volunteers who have an interest to provide opportunities
for women to learn, play, and enjoy the game of golf.
Volunteering can be very rewarding. It can
give you a direct voice in how your chapter is managed or it
can give you a chance to give back to your
chapter. New ideas are always welcome. Become an
active member in the success of your chapter.
The Events Committee will soon be
selecting courses to play for 2008. Contacts,
pricing and arrangments will need to be made well
before the 2008 season begins. Members also assist with
games, prizes, etc. New members are needed. This
committee is also looking for a new Traveling League
captain for 2008. (Thanks Pat Block for
volunteering as Traveling League captain this past year.)
The Social Committee will arrange and prepare
for the Kick-Off breakfast/brunch months before the March
date. This committee also is involved in the Year End and
other social meetings throughout the year.

the new year and can use your help.

addition to the Northeast Bay Chapter's initiative of having an
entire hole supported by EWGA members, there is an
opportunity to help staff a booth at the LPGA.
You can distribute EWGA brochures and encourage women to join our
organization. Brochures can be obtained through
our Membership Committee by contacting Margaret
Hamersley at membership@ewganeb.org .
(Note: Volunteering at the booth is separate from the Long's
Challenge volunteer marshalls.)
