EWGANEB Golf Event at Vintner's GC in Yountville
Saturday, September 22nd

WineBack by popular demand is this golf, wine and dine event in the Napa Valley for the second time this year!

This is a fun 18 -hole Scramble team event and will have a free stroke string per team, $5 mulligans for a split-the-pot raffle, a prize for each member of the first and second place teams and a fantastic sit-down lunch.

CORRECTION: Shotgun start is at 10am.

Cost is $88 ($98 after 9/15 if space is available) and includes green fee, cart, water, snacks, and lunch.

Deadline to register is Saturday, September 15th.

Vintner's is located in Yountville (north of Napa) at 7901 Solano Avenue just off of Highway 29.

Also, see our website for pictures from our last Vintner's event.

Kathy Kirkpatrick won closest to the pin on hole #15.  The 71 yard uphill par 3.  Kathy also won fewest putts!

Congratulations!
EWGA Championship Finals Results
Nashville, Tennessee

Eight of our chapter members went to The Hermitage in Nashville last weekend to compete in the 2-day finals.  The weather was hot and humid.

In the 2nd flight, Naomi Iaccarino grossed 93/97, net 70/74; and Pam Schramm grossed 96/97, net 74/75.

In the 3rd flight, Jane Taylorson grossed 104/97, net 76/69.

In the 4th flight, Laurie Kehl grossed 118/118, net 84/84.

Our scramble team, consisting of Donna Soltis, Gloria Speth, Margaret Hamersley and Marcella De La Cruz (Margaret and Marcella substituted in for 2 members who could not attend) finished the 2-day tournament with a gross score of 80/83, net 76/79.

While none of our members received an award, they all had a very memorable time!

Jane Taylorson wrote: "It was a wonderful experience.  I played with 3 really terrific women and we had a great time on the course and hung out a bit during the tournament, and I met a number of others over the course of 4 days and they were all warm, chatty, and funny.  Most of them (and me) were just thrilled to have made it to the finals.  And Tennessee is a very, very friendly state - there really is such a thing as southern hospitality!  The people working at the golf course were very women-friendly; not just "not negative" but genuinely helpful, smiling, responsive to requests.  I can't believe that I actually thought seriously about missing this experience - I almost didn't sign up for the Chapter Championship!  And I whined about having to go to Tennessee!!"

Gloria Speth wrote: "I had a tremendous learning experience being the Captain of the NE Bay Scramble team.  Being able to play the best that you can on a team is an experience in itself.  The decision that you make in what is the best advantage, may not be what everyone wants, makes you take responsibility for how it turns out.  This also happens in life.  I had a great time and appreciated the wonderful hospitality that Tennessee gave us.  I believe we all came back as winners because we were at the Nationals!  Let's bring it on at the next Nationals in Aloha, Oregon!"

From Ginny Taylor

I will not be in town on any Friday in September to coordinate Franklin Fridays.  However, they seem to be running ok as we have standing tee times at 4:30 and 4:37pm.  Anyone can show up and play.

Also, on Friday 9/28 and 10/5 we will not be able to play until 6pm as Franklin Canyon has tournaments those 2 dates.

LPGA & Charles Schwab Cup Volunteers Needed

Get up close and personal with the professional golfers.  Volunteers are needed to Marshal at both events.  When you volunteer you have free admission into the event as well.

The Longs Challenge - LPGA will be at Blackhawk Country Club in Danville October 1-7 and the Charles Schwab Cup (PGA senior men) will be at the Sonoma National Golf Course in Sonoma, Ca. on October 22-28.

What do Marshals do?  They are in charge of gallery control along each fairway, around the tee box and green.  It's very easy duty and you get to see the pros up close and personal.

We are specifically seeking volunteers to work the LPGA at Blackhawk.  If we get enough people to come out we will have exclusivity for a single hole and get recognition for EWGA.  MAYBE even be on TV!  We need at least 8 people per day, Thursday - Sunday.  The day can be split into 1/2 day shifts, then more people are required (we need 8 people on duty at one time).  The rules require you to commit to two shifts (morning or afternoon).  Spouses and significant others are also welcome.

To sign up just log on to either of the following web sites and please be sure to indicate you are with EWGA.

To be sure you get included in the EWGA group, please e-mail Alice once you've registered online: president@ewganeb.org
