McGee, Mary Ann Pate, Laura Geary, Pam Schramm and

Chapter
Championship Saturday, June 30th at
Blue Rock Springs - East, Vallejo
Did you know that the EWGA-NEB Chapter Championship is part of
the largestt amateur women's golf event in the world? It's
great for golfers of all skill levels - the competition is
"flighted", so each player only plays against others with similar
handicaps.
Member Naomi Iaccarino says: "The Chapter
Championship was the perfect venue to introduce competition to my
golf game." In Naomi's first year in the Championship, she
represented NEB at the Finals in Nashville!
Have you signed up for the Championship yet? Don't
forget - you must have posted 3 18-hole or 6 9-hole rounds by May
31, 2007.
Also, all registration forms must be received by
June 9, 2007.
Please note that this deadline is unlikely to be extended
due to time requirements at EWGA AQ for submitting required
documentation, payment, and handicap verification.
Cost is $105. Compete individually (stroke play) or on a
scramble team.
Additional information is on our chapter website on the Events
Calendar and News pages.

Chapter
Beginnings How we came to
be
A brief history of how our chapter got
started.
Susan Sappington and Rita
Vitaliano, two very busy professional business women, met
at a local Vallejo golf course. They talked about joining a
women's golf club to further enjoy the game they love, meet new
friends and just network. While they ventured out and joined
another local EWGA chapter, they decided starting a Northeast Bay
Chapter for professional working women would be ideal for
them. After research and phone calls to the National EWGA
office, the 2 years of completing paperwork and filing documents
with the National office finally paid off.
Susan and Rita hosted their first informational meeting at
Hiddenbrooke in May 2002. From that meeting approximately 15
new members joined at that event. They spread the word by
hosting another meeting at Tilden. With even more interested
women golfers signing up. The NEB Chapter's first kickoff
meeting was at Blue Rock with guest speaker Suzanne Woo. The
rest is history....
Happy 5th Birthday EWGANEB!
and thank you Susan and Rita!

Volunteer of the Month -
March Sara Swafford
Volunteer
Profile
Meet Sara Swafford, our EWGA NEB web designer
- also busy mom, soon-to-be grandmother, entrepreneur and sports
enthusiast. Sara was recognized at our March kickoff as the
chapter's Volunteer of the Month.
Sara started her web design business, Sky High Software, in
January 2005. With over 25 years' programming experience (back
in the old COBOL days), her last job brought her to the Bay
Area to a mortgage bank. When the bank closed after 10
years, Sara realized the demand for website design and programming
and decided to enhance her technical skills in that genre. Her
technical talent has paid off, as witnessed in our own chapter's new
website.
She enjoys outdoor activities such as tennis, skiing and
softball and became a recent golf convert 2 years ago. After
taking lessons with our Membership Chair, Margaret
Hammersley, she later joined EWGA. Sara still plays
softball part time along with her other hobbies of photography,
reading, movies, and travel.
