San Geronimo Golf
Course
After finally locating
the golf course last Saturday, San Geronimo
GC turned out to be a beautiful but fairly difficult
course with its' dog legs, blind shots, bunkers, bridges, creeks,
elevated tees, and elevated greens.
Twenty-eight members and guests enjoyed this fun filled
day.
Closest to the flag on hole #3 went to Laurie
Kehl, closest to the flag on hole #13 went to Lisa
Fox, and most accurate drive (to 3 inches!) was
Joyce Glatt. Trish Powell
won the fewest putts. All winners received a gift
card. |
Livermore Valley Wine
Country Championship at Wente
Vinyards PGA Nationwide
Tour
Several members of our chapter
volunteered on the 7th hold at the Nationwide Tournament held at
Wente Vinyards last week. They were Starla
Chimienti, Meredeth Pence, Mary
Ann Pate, and Pat Block.
Our task was to be Marshalls on that downhill par
3, which consisted of someone up at the teebox signalling the
direction of the ball and those at the green then finding the
wayward ones in the tall rough.
We also spent a good deal of time with our arms up with Quiet
signs aloft controlling traffic and letting the spectators know when
to be still. It was a lot of fun and we hope we can get more
people to volunteer next year to spread out the task. For
volunteering for the equivalent of 2 days we will get a chance to
play Wente, hopefully after they have cut the rough down and watered
the greens!

know?
The EWGA rules now require all
players in the EWGA Chapter Championship to have posted at least 6
nine-hole or 3 eighteen-hole scores this season
(before the June 1st revision) in order to play in the Chapter
Championship. Don't forget to post!

Sponsorship
Committee Needs Your
Help
Ladies,
The Sponsorship Committee is looking for a few
volunteers who are willing to put in an hour a week and are not
afraid to ask for orders. If you feel the desire to help,
please contact Marcella at either 925-240-1268 or

At present we are working on "Hole Sponsors" for the Vintner's

Wardrobe for Opportunity.
Thank you in advance for helping to promote Your local chapter

Seeking Two 9-hole
Coordinators New Chapter
Program for Monarch Bay
We are
looking for two members who would be willing to share the
coordination of a new chapter program for "9-holers" at the
Marina course at Monarch Bay in San Leandro.
We hope to do this on the 3rd Sunday of every month, with a
30-minute clinic by John Bearden, golf pro,
followed by 9-hole play - all for a cost of $22!
Before this great opportunity can become a reality, we need 2
volunteers to:
- track web signups from members
- communicate with John as to the numbers participating each
month
- participate in the clinics and play
- encourage chapter participants
- and enjoy being a part of EWGA!

Traveling
League Submitted by Pat
Block
The Traveling League's first lineup is set for April
15th Match against Sonoma Marin Chapter. Our first
team will consist of Pat Block, Cindy
Race, Bridget Albosta, Barbara
Competello, Naomi Jacobson, Julie
Crow, Alice Miller and Joyce
Glatt. The alternates will be Patricia
Ramirez, Ann Marie McGee, Cindy
Maxim and Donna Soltis.
The match will be held at Paradise
Valley in Fairfield and the first tee time will be
at 11am. We do not have the names of our competitors yet but
will publish the final lineup for both teams prior to the
event.
The team for the Auburn match, which will take place at
The Ridge Golf Course on
May 20th, will begin to be formed starting next
week. For those who have never played The Ridge, it is a
"tight" golf course with plenty of cross bunkers and hazards.
I suggest practicing accurate driving (even if it means using a
fairway wood instead of a driver) and sand shots...
More to come soon! Thanks for your patience as we get
this set up and get into the flow.

Website
Enhancements! It's
here!
Sara Swafford
has been working hard again to improve our chapter
website!
In the Events Calendar, you can see the total number of
spaces available and the number of spaces left
(unregistered) for each event. If the number of
spaces left is greater than zero, then you may still be
able to register (although if it is after the deadline - a $10 late
fee is included).
AND - you can see who is registered for each event using
your member logon!
Just click on the Event Name in the Calendar and
logon in the upper right-hand corner under Member Sign In,
then click on "Who's Playing?" to see the
list of members and guests who have registered for that event.
Names are listed in alphabetical order. (Your password is your EWGA
member number!)
Great job
