Lunch, Lessons and 9 Holes at Franklin Canyon on 3/17

golf clinic This is the perfect event for non-golfers and beginners interested in learning more about golf and what the game is all about.  Both EWGA members and non-members are welcome.
  • Location: Franklin Canyon Golf Course in Hercules
  • When: March 17th, Saturday
  • What: 9am - Mini clinics, networking, and box lunch
  • What else: Noon to 3pm 9-holes including cart
  • Cost: $30.00 all inclusive ($40 after 3/13/07)

Callippe was great!

 Callippe 10th holeOur first EWGA golf event of the year was last Saturday! 

Twenty-eight members and guests came out to enjoy a beautiful and warm golf day at Callippe in Pleasanton.   
 
Pat Block paired the golfers and set up a great event.  Three par-3 holes were designated closest-to-the-hole.  Margaret Hamersley won closest on TWO of them!  Trish Powell, a new member, won the third!  Mary Jane Hodges, another new member, won longest drive!  All winners were given gift certificates to spend at the pro-shop.
 
Sixteen members of the "Traveling League" were in the first 4 groups and played a practice round of match-play for the first 9 holes and "Greensome" (modified alternate shot) for the last 9 holes.  Remaining players played stroke play or scramble or match-play as they chose.
Chapter Championship 2007
Chair Person Needed

Women talking The 2007 Chapter Championship will be held on June 30 on the Blue Rock Springs - west course in Vallejo.  Our Chapter Championship is the first step of the EWGA 2007 Championship which is the largest amateur golf event in the U.S. for women.
 
We are looking for someone to step up and volunteer to chair this event for this year.  Requirements for this person:
  • passion for golf
  • wants the Northeast Bay Chapter to put their best foot forward
  • great organizational skills
  • wants to learn more about the rules of golf
  • wants to have the experience of running a tournament
  • willing not to play in this year's Chapter Championship

We would also like to find a co-chair who would be willing to volunteer for this year and then chair the championship for next year.

And we would also like to have 3 additional volunteers for the committee.
 
Everyone - except for the chair person - can play the championship.  This is great experience for charity and business events in your future.  And a great way to help the chapter.

Starts in April!

 Woman in CartAttention all golfers looking for some competitive fun!  The Northern California EWGA section, organized by the Sacramento Chapter, is forming a Match Play league and we have been invited to participate!
 
This would be a one-Sunday-a-month event starting in April and ending in October (skipping September).  We are looking for more members to sign up to participate.

San Geronimo Golf Course
Saturday, March 31st

Fairway Our next 18-hole chapter event will be at the San Geronimo Golf Course just south of San Rafael in Marin County.
 
This course is new to our 2007 Events Calendar.  You'll find plenty of bunkers and water on this hilly course.  From the front tees it is 5,140 yards with a rating and slope of 69.9/125. 
 
Cost is $62.00 and includes:
  • 18-holes of golf
  • shared golf cart
  • bottle of water
  • kashi granola bar
  • prizes!
  • lots of fun!
  • Deadline: Wednesday, March 21st
First tee time is 11:30am.
