How the NEB Chapter Got Started

Susan Sappington and Rita Vitaliano, two very busy professional business women, met at a local Vallejo golf course. They talked about joining a women's golf club to further enjoy the game they love, meet new friends and just network. While they ventured out and joined another local EWGA chapter, they decided starting a Northeast Bay Chapter for professional working women would be ideal for them. After research and phone calls to the National EWGA office, the 2 years of completing paperwork and filing documents with the National office finally paid off.

Susan and Rita hosted their first informational meeting at Hiddenbrooke in May 2002. From that meeting approx. 15 new members joined at that event. They spread the word by hosting another meeting at Tilden. With even more interested women golfers signing up. The NEB Chapter's first kickoff meeting was in March 2003 at Blue Rock with guest speaker Suzanne Woo. Today the Chapter has approximately 100 members located throughout Contra Costa, Alameda and Solano counties.
